Phantom visions from the dying Earth.

the earth is killed by you, for you, or you are killed along with it. i am both these things at once: reluctant predator, defiant prey; unsure how to sunder the jaws that encircle my neck, without shifting them to another’s. i come to the forest edge and greet the phantoms i find there; i weep with my victims, for they are many.
