My work for this show depicts invasive species that are disruptive to ecosystems throughout North America, and often disposed of through hunting, culling, or extermination. In depicting these species with dignity, I'm meditating on questions about how we judge which organisms have value, how we can balance the goals of conservation and maintaining biodiversity with respect for individual life, and why the human role in ecological upset remains largely unexamined.

Gouache, watercolor, acrylic, and ink on paper.
